Fun and festivals, the game of hunts, local produce and the food brought by neighbors, the spells of Magyars in the kitchen, and the wonderful spices.
All of this is the Old Baltic cuisine which was enjoyed by nobles, dukes and duchesses of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania: Radvilos, Bona Sforca, Duke Vytautas, Žygimantas Vaza and many others. Today we invite you to discover and experience it!
It may be said that Radvilos inspired us to focus not only on the satiety, but also the aesthetics of a dish. The kitchen of these noblemen was luxurious and nourishing, yet the way the table looked was no less important.
We are grateful to the Queen of Poland and Grand Duchess of Lithuania, wife of Sigismund the Old: Bona Sforza for bringing carrots, salads, herbs, olive oil and the tradition to drink wine instead of beer or mead to Lithuania.
Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas invited the karaims to Lithuania, and various spices came with them. The influence of neighboring countries on Old Baltic cuisine is truly vast.
